Privacy

Vancouver Anime is a relatively simple site run by Daniel Friesen under the sole proprietorship named VAnime Soft.

But even the plainest of websites often use cookies and 3rd party services that affect your privacy.

Here's an overview of what we use.

Traffic Logs

The service we use to host this website may keep traffic logs for a period of time. These traffic logs may contain information your browser automatically sends to every website you visit, such as: your IP address, the URLs of pages you visit, the URLs of pages that referred you to a page on our site, and the User Agent of the browser you are using.

These logs are separate from the 3rd party services we use and will not be combined data from other sources.

PostHog Analytics

We use PostHog Analytics to understand how people are using our site and to help us make informed decisions about how to improve it. This service collects data such as which pages you visit, how long you stay on each page, and what links you click on. We do not share this data with any other parties.

You can find more information on PostHog's privacy practices on their privacy page.

CMS

The content on this site is managed using a headless CMS called Payload. This allows us to easily update the content on the site without needing to redeploy it. The CMS itself does not collect any data from visitors to the site, but it does allow us to manage the content that you see when you visit.

The CMS is only accessible by authorized administrators who will be tracked via login cookies. These cookies are used to maintain the administrator's session and are not used for any other purpose.

Former subprocessors

We used to use Google Analytics, but we removed it when re-launching the website in 2026 and do not use it anymore. If you visited the previous site, it's possible that Google Analytics collected data about your visits.

We also used to use Google Fonts to serve the fonts on the site, but we switched to self-hosting the fonts in 2026.

We used to use reCAPTCHA on our contact form to prevent spam, but we removed the contact form in place of a simple email link, so we no longer use reCAPTCHA.

We used to use the Facebook SDK to include a page widget with the latest info from our Facebook page in our sidebar. However, we removed this widget and replaced it with a built-in events list on the homepage, so we no longer use the Facebook SDK.
